Tony Robbins is a huge name in fitness and motivation, and he has come up with a new productdesigned to help all his faithful followers create bodies like his. It is called Pure Energy Greens with MSM, and was created as part of his Inner Balance supplement line. Being so high profile, however, and having so very many competitors, it is important to have an unbiased and comprehensive review. This Tony Robbins Green Drink review will look at four basic headings: What Is It, What Does It Taste Like, What Is The Overall Value, and the Pros and Cons of purchasing this item.
Pure Energy Greens with MSM is a supplemental drink powder that is made with seven different super foods. They are:
- Barley grass
- Wheat grass
- MSM or Methyl Sulfonyl Methane
Now for anyone who doesn’t know, a superfood is one that is packed with nutrition and health benefits without having the extra calories or sugar that most health conscious people are trying to avoid. In this case, all the foods in the drink powder are organic, which is a plus, and they all have recognized health benefits. MSM is a sulfur found in plants and naturally occurring in the human body that helps with joint health and the health of connective tissue; big things to consider when lifting weights or doing anything that puts a lot of strain on your body.
The superfoods in Pure Energy Greens with MSM are excellent superfoods. However, compared to most other green drinks, the ingredient list is severely lacking in terms of variety of superfoods and potencies. Things like chlorella, spirulina, dulse to name a few are missing. The superfoods are in the product are also lacking in potencies. Each serving is only around 2 grams.
Taste and Texture
Now I know that this probably is not really important to the diehard health consumers out there, but it is important enough to be mentioned. With the list of ingredients plainly visible, it should not be expected that this drink tastes like chocolate or something similar, and it doesn’t. It has a very earthy, grassy taste with a little bit of added bitterness. However, for those of us who would prefer something a little more palatable, it can easily be mixed with fruit or juice to make a smoothie with an added healthy punch.
The value of anything is largely a matter of personal opinion. For this product, we will look at the cost breakdown and the amount of nutrition in each serving.
A bottle of Pure Energy Greens with MSM costs $69.95 for 280 grams. This breaks down to 140 servings of powder at approximately fifty cents per serving. Keep in mind that this does not cover taxes or shipping. This could be a great price, or not, depending on how much of it you consume in a day.
Each serving is two ounces, so you are getting a fairly small amount of nutritional value in each one. However, there is no national recommendation on drinks like this, and the product is a proprietary blend, which means we do not know how much of any one ingredient is in a serving. This could be a bad thing since each of those foods has some potent vitamins that our bodies are only supposed to have so much of in any given day. An overdose of things like iron (found in spinach and broccoli) can prove harmful to the kidneys.
The bottom line for value is that Pure Energy Greens with MSM doesn’t seem to have a lot of value compared to other green drinks. Even if you took 4 servings per day for a total of 8 grams of nutrition, you’d be paying around $2.50 per day. If you took Athletic Greens or Living Green Supreme Food for example, you’d be getting way more nutrition and paying way less money.
As with anything, the decision on whether or not to purchase a product can often be helped along by a list of good and bad. Here is mine:
- All ingredients are natural and organic
- MSM is a powerhouse nutrient that has some great benefits
- The serving sizes are manageable
- It can be mixed with things to make it taste better
- It is fairly expensive for the amount of nutrition you are getting
- There is a comparatively small amount of superfoods in each serving
- You do not know how much of each ingredient you are getting
The end result of this Pure Energy Greens with MSM review is this… this is a drink that was developed by a master marketer and fitness/motivational expert. It is packed with some truly amazing, all organic, superfoods, but has a fairly small serving size and a fairly large price tag.
Generally, this would be enough to put it out of the running, but it can be presumed that Mr. Robbins had the product formula researched for the maximum effectiveness in the smallest serving size since most people don’t want to take a drink that does not taste good more than they have to.
That being said, if you are one of the people who want only the best for your body, this product is probably not right for you. You’re paying dearly for the name.
